What Makes the Women in Your Life Special?

Women come in and out of our lives on a daily basis…some are a constant and others gently bump into us and then quickly move on.   What do we do with those connections?   Do we ignore or treasure them?

We believe that as individuals women are powerful in their own right.  Anytime you bring two or more women together, the strength multiplies significantly and the impact can be unexpected.  Even brief moments can spark an idea, warm our hearts with memories and make a difference in how we feel about ourselves.

Here are some examples of wonderful women experiences:

•Have you ever spent the day with a friend and come home feeling replenished and relaxed?   Maybe all you did was talk about everything – and nothing – and just the connection filled you with the nurturance you needed.

•What about bumping into someone you briefly know while standing at the cashier’s line, catching up, sharing tidbits of information about each other, but still connecting.

•How about friends that have retreated from your daily life and come back in…all the wonderful, juicy memories surfacing that creates a deep smile within you.

•Women working together for a common purpose; using the energy and insights of each person to meet a goal.

•Mothers who nurture their daughters.

•Daughters who respect their mothers.

•Sisters that bond and enrich each other.

•Wedding plans shared with dear friends.

•Constant long-term friendships where after many years together, laughter replaces the serious trials and tribulations of a lifetime.
•…add your own rich experiences with the women in your life.

So what do we do with all those daily connections we make with other women?  Do we honor them, grateful that they are a part of our lives and reach out to other women to make their lives just a little bit better?

Some thoughts…
How do you celebrate the women in your life?    How have women influenced you personally, made you a better person?  Is there one special women that you feel gratitude towards and why? Are there many special women in your life, each with their own unique contribution to you? How wonderful.

We’d love to hear your thoughts, so write your comments below and let’s celebrate women in all forms and shapes in our lives.

(Yes, in spite of the masculine name, I am indeed and very proud to be a woman!)
I will never cease to be amazed by our potential and capacities. However, there is one aspect of womanhood which does bother me and I hope I’m not out of line for mentioning it here: we are not sufficiently supportive of other women. With all our nurturing and maternal instincts, for some reason we too often criticise and condemn other women. Men don’t do this to each other, so why do we women do it to each other? I’d like to urge every woman who reads this to honestly examine their motives and, if it’s a result of an insecurity we’ve been brainwashed with over time, let us please please make a commitment to do away with it. Why should we expect men to respect and support us when we don’t support each other?

I have three sisters and we couldn’t be more different. Yet, last year while our father was dying of cancer we had this unque and special opportunity to spend a couple of weeks together at his home while he was on hospice. Although his passing was incredibly sad, I think we all feel like that time and the much closer relationship we’ve had since has been a real gift.

Your point is well taken…supporting the women in our lives actually enriches who we are as people.
